The Barnegat Animal Clinic was first established by Dr. Eric Muller in 1970. Dr. Steve Wurst purchased it in April 1984. It started as a three-bedroom house. The first change came with removing some walls and creating a prep/treatment area and a sterile surgical suite. At that time all of the pets were kept in a small bedroom. The next change came in 1986 with a 20 by 24 foot kennel room and indoor dog run area on the North side. As we continued to grow we needed more space and added a third examination room, a doctor’s office, and an employee lounge on the Route 9 side. In 2003 we started the long process of doubling the hospital size. The latest expansion is now complete, which includes: doubling the square footage of the existing building, individual dog and cat wards, seven more dog runs, a larger surgical suite, a phone center, a conference room, advanced digital x-rays and ultrasound technologies, seven total exam rooms, an outpatient treatment room, a larger reception area, and a complete renovation of the whole building.
