Jen McCrea
Jen grew up here in Barnegat, and currently lives in Waretown with her husband and 3 boys. Her love of animals prompted her to pursue a position in the veterinary field, and she has been with Barnegat Animal Clinic since 2006. During her free time you can find her at the beach, park, zoo or aquarium, or at home with her canine and feline companions.

Stephen F. Wurst, V.M.D.

Dr. Wurst grew up in Pennsylvania and always enjoyed the Jersey Shore. While attending Penn State he met his wife Cindy. They have three children. Ben is a wildlife biologist, Lauren is teacher for autistic children and Andy is at the BAC. Dr. Wurst enjoys fishing and being on the water. He also enjoys work as a veterinarian, especially the surgical cases.
Sadly, we lost Dr. Wurst in November of 2014. He is, and always will be, deeply and truly missed.
Matt Schwert, D.V.M.

Dr. Schwert has led a very eclectic life so far. Although New Jersey is now the longest place of residence, it has been the sixth state he has lived in. Dr. Schwert graduated veterinary school at Oklahoma State University in 2000, and joined the BAC team in 2002. Dr. Schwert enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two young children. He has been active in many animal rescue organizations and currently has six dogs and five cats of his own.Dr. Matt’s favorite part of being a veterinarian is orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, but highly enjoys educating clients on the care and well being of their animals.

Dr. Behan, pictured here with his best friend Ginger, worked at BAC in the early 1990’s as a technician and came right back following graduation in 2004. He enjoys all aspects of canine and feline medicine, surgery and dentistry. His certifications include PennHip radiology, VetStem regenerative medicine, and K-Laser Class 4 LASER therapy.

Andy Wurst, D.V.M.

Dr. Andy began work at BAC when he was a young boy, while he followed his father around the practice. He had always wanted to become a vet when he grew up, and joined the BAC team after finishing school in June 2006. He currently lives in Waretown on a lagoon. In his free time, Dr. Wurst Jr. likes to offshore fish, do home improvements, work out, and relax. He has two dogs of his own, “Layla” a Chihuahua that he adopted from a shelter in Omaha, Nebraska, and “Charlie” a rescued terrier mix. Dr. Andy enjoys working with clients and educating them about the health of their companions. He has an interest in surgical cases.

Dr. Kaci Bain graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in September 2016. She did her clinical year abroad in Sydney Australia and spent a month in Auckland New Zealand. Dr. Bain enjoys emergency medicine and surgery. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors and fishing, always looking for another adventure whether it be close to home or far away.
Jocelyn Ruiz, D.V.M.

At age 5 with a pair of parakeets, Dr. Jocelyn knew she wanted to be a vet. She started off working as a technician while majoring in Animal sciences at the University of Missouri. She has a special interest in dermatology and internal medicine. In the far future, Dr. Jocelyn hopes to open up a pet sanctuary in Colombia, where her family is from. She’s a Jersey girl who loves to paint and enjoys Latin dance nights. She lives with her kitties Inu and Eva, as well as her dogs, Lily and Arthur. She can’t wait to keep her crew growing!
Albert Fernandez, D.V.M.

Dr. Fernandez has completed an internship at New York City Veterinary Specialists after finishing his clinical year at the University of Pennsylvania. Although he grew up in New York City and Long Island, he has called New Jersey his home since 2012. Dr. Fernandez has treated many different species over the years, including peacocks, snakes, chinchillas, and fish. He enjoys interesting species, ultrasound, and surgery. His zoo at home includes dogs, cats, snakes, hermit crabs, fish, and honeybees. In his free time, Dr. Fernandez enjoys gardening, beekeeping, hiking, and traveling.
